At St Therese, we value strong, positive relationships with parents and carers. This strong relationship builds community and benefits all members of the school especially the children. We know that when we work together our children are engaged with their learning, attend school more regularly, leading to better long term outcomes.

Parent Engagement Group (PEG) and Parents and Friends Association (P&F)

At St Therese, we have two main formal structures for parents to be a part of our school community. We have a P & F Committee as a formal association for Fundraising and running the Canteen. We also have a Parent Engagement Group (PEG). All parents are encouraged to take an active part in this aspect of the school’s life.

Both options allow for parents and carers to gather and work in partnership with their child’s school to share the work and decision making in the education of their child.
The PEG model however focuses on supporting authentic family engagement in student learning to strengthen the partnership that exists between home and school.

Each Term we have a meeting run and co-ordinated by the Principal and Assistant Principal with the support of the leadership team and it will be focussed on Parent Education and School News. The meetings is known as the PARENT ENGAGEMENT GROUP MEETING (PEG Meeting). The focus of the meeting is about community engagement with an educative component, to build capacity amongst parents and carers in a range of topics to support you as parents as well as to know more about your child’s learning at school.

Parents across the school are able to volunteer and form groups for each of the Events that we hold throughout the year in the school. As a group parents coordinate and run the event. In the lead up to the event, the principal will meet with the team to discuss the logistics of the event and support you with the planning.

There are also other opportunities for parents to be a part of the school community. These include but are not limited to;

  • Volunteering in the canteen, classroom and excursions
  • Being a part of the Stage Faith Retreat
  • Stage Faith and Learning Walks
  • Weekend family masses
  • School based events such as – Sports and Swimming carnivals, Busking Days, Feast Days, Mother’s, Father’s and Grandparent’s days, Easter Hat and Book Week Parade
  • Fundraising Events
  • Stop Pray and Reflect (SPaR)
  • Playgroups

Our school is very grateful to the number of families that respond to our needs throughout the year. These times further build the strong sense of community at St Therese’s. We value your partnership and participation in the life of the school.
